As much fun as the annual Change Is Good’s main event is, the pick-up of materials beforehand is a drive-thru blast. With kids, parents and pooches arriving in SUVs, sedans and pick-ups at Highland Park United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 7, at noon for the 2021 Community Partners of Dallas fundraiser, it set the mood for the sold-out virtual event to come.

Maybe it was the beautiful skies or just getting out of the house to pick up the boxes containing Moon Pies, Penne Rigate, a bottle of Johnson’s baby shampoo and “stuff” that would be put to use starting at 3:00 p.m.

According to CPD Communications and Development VP Joanna Clarke, the 2021 intergalactic theme had been an out-of-this-world winner hitting new heights with kids and their parents for the sold-out event co-chaired by Lynette and Nate Christensen with their kids Elsie, Thomas and Luke and Brynn and Travis Dent with their daughters Blake and Brooklyn and presented by CrossFirst Bank.

The only problem was the T-Shirt contest. There were so many outstanding entries that it was hard to pick winners. But Margaret Shufeldt and Luke Conlon skyrocketed to the top of the stars.

Also rising to the occasion were the top change collectors — Team Moore Polosky (Kennedy Moore, Ryan Moore, Caroline Polosky and Claire Polosky) in first place, Faye Fernandez in second place and Team Gray (Brooke Gray, Caroline Gray and Cate Gray) in third place. The trio’s collection alone provided $5,639.20 for CPD’s mission of providing assistance for abused children in Dallas County.
