This morning it was announced that the 2023 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival would be returning to Dallas after last year’s event in Fort Worth.

The reveal of this global competition couldn’t just be reported in a press release. No, it was held in NorthPark’s North Court with 19-year-old pianist Kasey Shao showcasing the priceless talents of young pianists by performing Chopin’s “Andante spianato et Grand polonaise brillante,” ap.22 and Liszt-Gounod’s “Valse de Faust.”

A second-year Princeton student who has already performed around the country and was recognized as a 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar and Young Steinway Artist, Kasey has “already distinguished herself as founder and president of the Princeton University chapter of Doctors Without Borders, music director of the Princeton Pianists Ensemble, Community Action Fellow, and award winner of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.”
