In these parts there are many “fishing holes,” but come Saturday, June 18, there will a lot of fishing along Turtle Creek. Sponsored by Veritex Community Bank, the first-ever Kids Fishing Derby will be taking place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Turtle Creek Park’s Fishing Pier located between Lemmon Avenue and Hall Street.

But before you whip out your fly-fishing equipment, know that the operative word is “kids.” That means the program will be limited to munchkins ages 12 and younger and they must be accompanied by an adult.
In addition to prizes and other activities, breakfast tacos will be provided by the area’s longtime fav Lucky’s Cafe.
If your fisherkiddo doesn’t have their own fishing gear, not to worry. The Turtle Creek Conservancy will supply it.
And don’t plan on taking home your fish, turtle or whatever. It’s strictly a catch-and-release relationship. So, make sure your cellphones capture the moment.
To participate in this free event, register by contacting Adrian at 214.521.2003. And if you’re hankering for a fun event to sponsor, check with Amanda at 214.521.2003. She’ll make it happen!
